Internship Program

During the internship program, learners will work in teams to develop one of the following real-world products.

1. Web Application with Spring MVC

Develop a web application using the Spring MVC framework.

Typical skills practiced in this project may include:

  • Understanding and presenting customer requirements or proposing your own product ideas.

  • Creating an initial design to quickly start development.

  • Improving teamwork skills through daily planning and reporting, weekly meetings, source code management, and collaborative problem solving.

  • Gaining experience in building a product using the following technologies and frameworks:

    • Web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and libraries such as DataTables, Select2, and Thymeleaf

    • Spring Framework with XML configuration

    • Databases such as MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server

  • Applying a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach to structure the application.

  • Deploying the project to the MyWorkspace Platform.


2. Web Application with Spring Boot

Develop a modern web application using Spring Boot.

This project focuses on:

  • Rapid backend development

  • RESTful API design

  • Integration with databases and external services

  • Deployment of modern Java web applications

Learners will gain experience in modern backend development with Spring Boot.


3. Learning Record Store (LRS) with Node.js and MongoDB

Develop a backend-driven system using Node.js to implement a Learning Record Store (LRS) that collects, stores, and analyzes learning activity data.

Typical skills practiced in this project may include:

  • Understanding learning analytics requirements and designing data models for tracking user activities based on real-world scenarios.

  • Designing scalable backend architecture using RESTful APIs and event-driven patterns.

  • Improving teamwork skills through agile practices such as daily standups, sprint planning, version control, and collaborative debugging.

  • Gaining experience in building a data-driven system using the following technologies and frameworks:

    • Backend development with Node.js, Express.js, and API design using RESTful principles

    • NoSQL database design with MongoDB for storing learning records and activity streams

    • Integration with xAPI (Experience API) for standardized learning activity tracking

    • Optional frontend or dashboard using JavaScript frameworks for visualizing learning data

  • Applying a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach to structure services such as statement processing, authentication, and analytics.

  • Deploying and scaling the system using containerization (Docker) and cloud-ready infrastructure.


4. Mobile Application Development with Flutter

Develop a cross-platform mobile application using the Flutter framework as a client for the MyWorkspace Platform.

Typical skills practiced in this project may include:

  • Understanding user requirements on mobile devices (Phone, Tablet) and analyzing how users interact with the existing MyWorkspace Platform (Sakai-based system at https://xmyworkspace.com/portal).

  • Designing mobile application UI/UX including wireframes, user flows, and responsive layouts optimized for different screen sizes.

  • Developing a Flutter mobile application as a MyWorkspace Platform Client to enable users to access services, manage accounts, and subscribe to paid services.

  • Gaining experience in building mobile applications using the following technologies and tools:

    • Mobile development with Flutter (Dart) for cross-platform applications (Android & iOS)

    • State management using Provider, Riverpod, or Bloc

    • Integration with backend services via RESTful APIs (Spring Boot, Node.js)

    • Local storage using SQLite, Hive, or SharedPreferences

  • Ensuring source code quality through clean architecture, code review practices, testing, and maintainable coding standards.

  • Managing source code and release processes using Git, version control strategies, and building release packages (APK/IPA).

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including backend, service, and platform teams to complete a full mobile product.

  • Deploying and distributing the mobile application through app stores or internal distribution channels.


5. Vietnam Stock Market Analysis and Trade Recommendation System

Develop a system that analyzes Vietnamese stock market data and provides trading recommendations.

The system may include:

  • Collecting and processing historical stock market data

  • Performing data analysis and visualization

  • Applying machine learning models to analyze market patterns

  • Generating buy/sell/hold recommendations for selected stocks

  • Providing results through a dashboard or REST API service

This project helps learners practice data analytics, financial data processing, and machine learning applications.


6. Computer Vision Product for Object Detection

Develop a Computer Vision system that detects objects from images or videos.

Possible technologies include:

  • Python

  • OpenCV

  • Deep learning models such as YOLO

The system may support:

  • Object detection from images

  • Real-time video analysis

  • Visualization of detected objects

  • API integration for external applications

This project introduces learners to AI-powered visual analysis systems.


7. Enterprise Chatbot with Large Language Models (LLM)

Develop a chatbot system that uses Large Language Models (LLMs) to answer questions based on internal enterprise documents.

Typical features include:

  • Document ingestion and indexing

  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

  • Question answering over enterprise knowledge

  • Web or API interface for interacting with the chatbot

This project demonstrates how LLM technology can support enterprise knowledge management.


8. Personal Multimodal LLM System (Text and Speech)

Develop an advanced AI system capable of processing text and speech in both Vietnamese and English.

The system will use a dataset containing:

  • Personal text data

  • Speech recordings (.mp3 or .wav)

The product should support the following input types:

  • Vietnamese text

  • English text

  • Vietnamese speech

  • English speech

From one input, the system will generate the remaining outputs, including:

  • Speech-to-text transcription

  • Translation between Vietnamese and English

  • Text-to-speech generation

Example:

If the user speaks a sentence in Vietnamese, the system will generate:

  • Vietnamese text (speech recognition)

  • English text (translation)

  • English speech (text-to-speech)

This project explores multimodal AI systems combining speech recognition, translation, and speech synthesis.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Remote Internship Program, learners are expected to achieve the following outcomes:

1) Software Development Competency

Learners will be able to design, develop, test, and deploy software applications using modern technologies such as Java Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Python, and AI frameworks.

They will gain practical experience in building real-world systems including web applications, data analytics platforms, computer vision systems, and AI-powered applications.


2) Real-World Project Experience

Learners will gain hands-on experience working on real software projects within a team environment. They will understand the complete software development lifecycle, including:

  • requirement analysis

  • system design

  • implementation

  • testing

  • deployment


3) Teamwork and Professional Collaboration

Learners will develop professional collaboration skills by working in project teams. They will practice:

  • daily planning and reporting

  • weekly project meetings

  • collaborative problem solving

  • source code management and version control

These activities simulate real enterprise software development environments.


4) Modern Technology Application

Learners will be able to apply modern technologies and frameworks such as:

  • Spring Framework and Spring Boot

  • RESTful APIs

  • relational databases

  • machine learning and AI models

  • computer vision systems

  • Large Language Models (LLM) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)


5) AI and Data-Driven Solution Development

Learners will gain experience in developing AI-powered and data-driven systems, including:

  • stock market analysis and recommendation systems

  • computer vision applications

  • enterprise chatbots using LLM

  • multimodal AI systems combining text and speech processing


6) Problem-Solving and Innovation Skills

Learners will strengthen their ability to analyze problems, design solutions, and implement innovative technology products that address real-world needs.


7) Software Deployment and Platform Integration

Learners will gain experience in deploying applications and integrating services on modern platforms, including the MyWorkspace Platform, enabling them to deliver functional products to users.


8) Career Readiness for the IT Industry

Upon completion of the program, learners will be better prepared for professional roles such as:

  • Software Engineer (with Java / NodeJS/ Python / Flutter)

  • Backend Developer (With Java / NodeJS / Python)

  • AI / Machine Learning Engineer

  • Data Analyst

  • Computer Vision Engineer

They will also gain the confidence to participate in real software development teams and technology projects.
